Our Thoughts on the Bracket

Our final thoughts on the bracket before the Tourney starts...

We ended up correctly picking 62 out of the 65 teams in the tourney field. We missed Utah State, Air Force and George Mason. We correctly seeded 31 teams and we got 50 teams within one line of their seed. To see how we stacked up against the competition go to http://bracketproject.atspace.com/comparison.htm/.

We were the best site out there in terms of seeding. Our biggest regret with this bracket was taking out George Mason, who we had in the whole last week, and replacing them with Hofstra on Sunday. We placed too much stock in the Skinn suspension and not enough in the fact that their AD was on the Selection Committee. Maybe when we saw Lunardi change his bracket just before the selection show to include George Mason we should have changed ours as well. I think it's safe to say that he got some inside information and made that change.

We have expressed our thoughts about the Selection Committee through our comments this week so we won't go into that anymore. But basically they gave bids to conferences rather then teams.

As for the Tourney itself Chris and Craig both believe that UConn, Duke, Villanova, and UCLA will make the Final Four with Duke and UConn meeting in the Final and UConn winning it all. To see our whole bracket just go to the ESPN tourney challenge group once the tourney starts this afternoon.

Thanks to everyone for a great year. We'll still be updating the site periodically in the coming weeks as the Tourney progresses.

You heard it by me first....Air Force will pull off the upset of Illinois.

As a fellow Zoomie tourney supporter I second that motion. If you don't think men who go to The Air Force Academy have pride then you will find out today. They hear you all talk and they will respond with vigor.

ALSO... Don't hear much Valley punkin' going on right now... Go Shockers

"And on the 8th Day God made the AC... er um sorry BIG WEST"

Wahhh FSU needs to be in, wahhh Maryland is a top quality school, wahhhh the Big East should have gotten 9 schools....

WELCOME TO PARITY BOYS

3 power confs vs 3 mid-majors...

mid-majors 2 power confs. 1

And it very well could have been 3.

"welcome to parity" indeed, could not have said it better myself.

Of course Chris and Craig have UCONN winning it all...

LOL

I can see you guys do a better job projecting the bracket than predicting the outcomes of the bracket.... 3 #1 seeds and a #2 seed ????

You guys should teach grammar school being you are so experienced with "chalk" !!

It is like you bragging because you got 31 teams seedes exactly right on your predicted bracket (you guys are GREAT at picking top teams. Considering at least three of the top 4 seeds (and after Sunday afternoon, even Memphis was certain) and 4 of the bottom 5 seeds were locks, that only leaves 23 of a possible 56 teams you seeded excatly right.

Pretty damn mediocre, and CERTAINLY nothing to brag about !!!!!!

How are we bragging? All we said is that we got 31 seeds exactly right which is better then anyone else.

And for your information Chris teaches in high school not grammer school.

Chris and Craig:

Thank you for all of your hard work this winter/spring and thank you for running an interesting and fun website. Keep up the good work.

Mr. Bracketologist, what do you think of this idea for next year:

With the NCAA buying the NIT, it should use this to full advantage. Take the last eight at-large teams on the board and have them square off in four play-in games Tuesday night (rather than the current play-in game that features two teams that EARNED their way into the field via winning their conference tournaments). The winners slot into the NCAA bracket as 12 or 13 seeds (which is where the last at-larges usually are placed) and play Friday first-round games. The losers slot into the NIT bracket as No. 1 seeds and play Friday first-round games.

Is GW gonna actually play a touch OOC conference schedule next year? Or is Karl Hobbs too chicken?

It's about time pokerplayr. We thought you lost some of your edge from last year. Now the pokerplayr we know and love is back, we were worried about you.

hmm, so they were the best in terms of seeding, but somehow they suck? jeez, next you're going to tell me that shaq is a terrible basketball player because he only hits 50% of his free throws, even though he's the most dominant big man in recent history. Grow up, or grow a pair and do your own bracket projection to see if you can measure up to these guys.

Can we now all finally agree that the Big East is the best conference?

Desiree Fuhrmann would admit that at best she "loosely" follows college basketball; bet basketball yet for the last two years she has befuddled co-workers by winning her office pool for March Madness brackets.
"Oh, they hated me when I won," says the 28-year old social worker in Portland, Ore. While college basketball junkies across the country are crunching numbers and peering over stats the Monday after this annual event, sportsbook others opt for less traditional ways of filling out their brackets. Test your bracket skills here.
Some will pick teams that wear their favorite colors. Some will choose based on the best-looking players,
march madness and others may determine their picks based on their favorite mascots. Like with Fuhrmann, it's not always the most knowledgeable person that wins. Leon Carter, who for 10 years was the sports editor at this newspaper, agrees and says that's why he doesn't spend more than five minutes filling out his bracket.
