Here are our running thoughts as the bracket gets announced:
Wow! 3 Big East #1s. UConn always gets favorable seeding.
Big Ten not getting much love, Ohio State a 8.
Arizona in, WOW! That looks like the last team in.
Maryland looking good with BC getting a 7.
B101 can forget about getting 60 seeds within 1 this year.
Looks like the little guy is gonna get screwed. No SDSU, St Mary's or Creighton.
It's over for the bubble teams...9-12 lines will be Michigan, Western Kentucky, Temple, and LSU.

please let gonzaga be in portland or boise. a 2nd round matchup vs. washington would be a nice bonus. ...oh, and st. mary's deserves to be in the field.
no st.marys dont not over psu
Now that Mississipi State won, what would you put Arizona's chances at?
arizona is 15-20%
MSU was a very odd choice for a 1 seed.
Agreed with Anonymous. Odd MSU pick.
Louisville got any beefs having to possibly play OSU in Dayton in the second round??
horsesh#9er80....OSU a number 8 seed??
Wake's a 4. Good news for Syracuse for possible #3.
Arizona?
Wow.
If Zona is in, I fear for my Terps chances bigtime. That was our #12 seed. :( :(
Terps are okay if B.C. is a 7 seed.
Arizona in the field is appalling.
I have a feeling this means that the Big Ten is sending 6.
What are Penn State's odds?
I think Penn St's odds are very bad at this point w/ Arizona in.
Michigan State is probably getting some benefit of the doubt for playing without Suton/Morgan for decent parts of the season. After Suton came back and before Morgan got sick, this team was playing some very good ball.

Washington and Wake as 4's mean Syracuse looking very good for a #3 right now unless the committee has FSU ahead of them on the s-curve.
Yeah how did Zona get in?! I mean they were just dirt down the stretch. Idk how many top 50 RPI teams they but but i didnt think it was that many.
with Wisconsin in it would be appalling if the gophs werent in,
Minny is in and a higher seed than the Badgers. Having Louisville as the overall #1 probably helped the perception of the Gophers
guess Michigan isnt in?!
Arizona and Wisconsin were chosen on name recognition.
St. Mary's is so out.
Why in the world did they send FSU to Boise?!?!?!
WI in because of name recognition???? Nothing to do with top 20 sos and an RPI in 30s??? You are full of yourself
Michigan a 10 and Wisconsin a 12. Okay.
Arizona is officially the scariest 12 seed in tournament history. The week off will allow Jordan Hill's (#3 pick in the draft) ankle to heal. And they have an easy road. Utah is toast, and Wake and the east coasters won't know what hit them.
who was the 1st team out?
St. Mary's was the first team out.
I'm a Wisco fan, and relived they made it. But 12 is pretty low for the 4th-place team in the second-best conference in the nation. They were 5-0 against OSU, Mich and PSU (fellow bubble teams), though choked away 2 games to Minn.
However, a lot of good teams got left out, so I'm not complaining. It wasn't a great year for the Badgers, though maybe it still can be.
Committee head says that Wisconsin was an 11 but had to be moved to a 12. VCU probably benefited as they got a 11.
Hey Pitt..What with the long faces when you were announced? Could it be that had sour grapes since you got your butts whipped by WVU. What the heck you still got #1 seed but we all know you know who kicked your azz last..haha
As the Penn State fan... the only team that is a head scratcher is Arizona. Everyone else made sense.
Miss. St., Cleveland St., and USC probably stole the PSU bid.
was st. mary's definitely the first team out B101?

The Missouri team a few years back that made the elite 8 after a mediocre season is a interesting comparison point.
MattLion- with a healthy Hill, Arizona can beat anybody. This mediocre team crushed Kansas by 17.
Their inclusion is further proof that the selection committee doesn't place a lot of stock in RPI where Arizona was #63. But if you look at the Pomeroy ratings, AZ is #39, whereas St. Mary's is #61 and Creighton #67. And if you look at the Sagarin ratings, AZ is #43, St. Mary's is #50 and Creighton is #55.
In short, they included the proper bubble team. Better luck next year, St. Creighton.
We'd like to think that St. Mary's was the first team out. It was probably either St. Mary's or SDSU.
i'm a penn state fan. anyone know how much NIT tickets will cost for their first round game at home?
"MattLion- with a healthy Hill, Arizona can beat anybody. This mediocre team crushed Kansas by 17."
Kansas lost to UMass (!) and got destroyed by Michigan State.
I am not sure 9-9 in the not-that-impressive Pac 10 merits a bid, but they certainly have the talent to make a run. They should beat Utah.
Id just like to point out to the ACC slappy and all the ACC slappies...I was right...FSU a 5 and WF a 4...chew on that!
Pissing me off that xavier and gonzaga got 4s, and FSU got a 5...
FSU hasnt had a history of being a tourney team like Xavier has in the past years...that had to be a deciding factor
FSU hasnt had a history of being a tourney team like Xavier has in the past years...that had to be a deciding factor
Which would definitely piss me off.
Gonzaga/Cuse can both make the Final Four.
MattLion- "I am not sure 9-9 in the not-that-impressive Pac 10 merits a bid, but they certainly have the talent to make a run. They should beat Utah."
The Pac-10 was brutal this year. In terms of average RPI, they were only the 5th conference. But in terms of the average Pomeroy rating, they were the #2 conference, ahead of the much vaunted Big East and almost tied with the ACC.

Arizona also lost a lot of close games thanks to dubious Pac-10 refs. The ones at Washington, at ASU, and at USC were basically decided by the refs on lousy last second calls in favor of the home team. The one against ASU in Tucson was also stolen, blatantly, by a horrible blocking call against Hill for setting a screen. Pac-10 refs were awful to Arizona this year.
Make way for the 12 seed!
Arizona fans complaining about the refs? Some things never change.
If Arizona went 9-9 in a league where they got to play 6 conference games against teams with RPI's over 100.
PSU went 10-8 in a league where they got to play 4 conference games against teams with RPI's over 100.
In the "BCS" bubble comparison, PSU got robbed. Probably not as much as SDSU or St. Mary's did, though. Yes, I know Arizona beat SDSU, but that was a home game. They don't play home games in the tournament.
Go figure.

OSU just beat Wisky on Friday.
8 was definitely too low for Ohio State. How in the hell Boston College got a 7 seed ahead of us I have no idea. Not much respect given to the Big 10 in general.
But I'd honestly rather play Siena in round 1 than USC, although I think both are tough, tough match ups. It's also in Dayton, so aside from a potential 2nd round game against the #1 overall seed I'm not too upset with it.
If the seeds hold up, 6 of the 7 Big 10 teams should be done by the end of the 1st weekend.
"They don't play home games in the tournament."
Unless you're NC or Duke. Dayton and Indianapolis will be home games for Louisville as well.
Penn State didn't get robbed. Arizona was clearly the superior team. By Pomeroy, it's #39 AZ v #78 for PSU. By Sagarin, it's #43 AZ v. #56 for PSU. In other words, it's not even a tough decision.
And as you said, SDSU lost to their fellow bubble team Arizona. The committee made the right choice.
Cuse 3. FSU 5. I told you so two nights ago.
"They don't play home games in the tournament."
Unless you're NC or Duke. Dayton and Indianapolis will be home games for Louisville as well.
...how would Dayton be a home game for Louisville in the 2nd round.......vs OHIO st......???
OSU will beat Louisville in Dayton. Its practically a home game, and I'm sure you're all aware of Louisville's penchant for losing to mediocre teams.
"...how would Dayton be a home game for Louisville in the 2nd round.......vs OHIO st......???"
You're right. I missed it.
It's pretty crooked of the committee to help out 8 seeds, much less gift Duke and/or NC two home games EVERY YEAR.
When the NCAA sent both North Carolina and Duke to Charlotte in 2005, South #1 seed Duke had a harder time with #16 Delaware State than expected and two days later Duke really struggled against #9 seed Mississippi State before winnng. Duke certainly had fan support those days, but North Carolina had vastly more fans in the building and those fans cheered for Duke's opponents as if they were the Tar Heels themselves. The Blue Devils were definitely rattled by that scenario. So while I won't call Duke going to Greensboro any sort of punishment, it's not quite the reward one might think either due to the presence of North Carolina and it fans.
Terps in, Garys contract extended, Big Ten downgraded as they should be. All is well.
Like Cal in round 1 in the middle of the home and home for football. Memphis in round 2? Greivas Vasquez this years Stephen Curry?
It's pretty crooked of the committee to help out 8 seeds, much less gift Duke and/or NC two home games EVERY YEAR.
LEts look at the facts... The Committee tries earnestly to give the top seeds(1-3 or 4) games, at least first round, that are close to home, or at least not super-far... Last year one of the regional sites was raleigh, so Duke(2 seed) and UNC(1) got to play there, keep in mind that Kansas played in Omaha, as did K-state, and 11 seed, and davidson played in raleigh, and that stanford and UCLA got to play in anaheim...
Im sure that your biggest problem is jealousy over duke and carolina's dominanace... Duke has been a preferred-region seed(1,2 or 3) 23 times in 30 years since the tourney started seeding.. And they have combine for 31 final fours, or one per 2 years, which no other team can match.
