Running Commentary On The Bracket

Got all the 1s!!!!

With Purdue a 9 seed, we like Illinois' chances...

Not feeling too good about Stanford or Drexel right now...

How does Butler get a 5 and Wright State a 14???

REALLY doesn't look good for Drexel....

The committee loves the Big Ten...

Wouldn't be shocked if FSU made it now...

And Lunardi CHEATS AGAIN!!!!! Arkansas in....unbelievable....

Syracuse needs to be worried with how the Big East has been seeded so far...

How did Michigan State and Purdue both get 9s??

It's down to Syracuse, Stanford, Drexel, Kansas State, and Florida State for the last bid...

Duke gets a sweet draw, getting VCU in the first round (caple can give him the inside scoop) and the possible matchup with Pitt is about as perfect a matchup that Duke could hope for...I'm so happy.

    Duke a 6? SIU a 4? Butler a 5? strange... Drexel is in trouble...

For 3 games now, Butler has been only as good as Loyola-Chicago and Wright St., yet they're still a 5? Old Dominion is twice blessed: getting in, and getting Butler instead of the other 5's.

if FSU in, Drexel should be in

Lunardi's late switches are fishy...2nd straight year. Last year, he elevated GM over another team that didn't play on pairings day. Today, he had Stanford way down before moving them up.

FSU OUT AGAIN!!!!!!!! What do the seminoles have to do to satisfy the damn committee?? Last year they tell them to play a better schedule, this year they do, end up with a better overall record and more quality wins, and they're out again.. I just don't get it. Surprised that 'Cuse got left out too.

Drexel got Hofstra'd. The committee should go find new jobs. I realize you can't make everybody happy, but Drexel has done EVERYTHING you could possibly do as a mid-major to get into the tournament, short of finishing better in the conference. If they got shafted due to a 4th place finish, the committee should have realized that the CAA's top 4 teams this year were extremely competitive and GOOD. 3 Colonial teams should be in without question.

Sorry, just watched one of the committee guys defend his decision on CBS, and in his own words, it came down to ODU's better conference record by "a significant margin"

2 games is a significant margin?

Why is there such an emphasis put on out-of-conference schedules if the committee is just gonna knock teams out based on conference play? And aren't teams supposed to be discussed without mention of their conference, but rather just on pure record and stats?

  24. Notre Dame got screwed. A 6 seed and winthrop first round. wow. Im a BC fan but man i still feel that the irish got screwed

Stanford in over Cuse is just highway robbery.

FSU should have been in over Arkansas.

I can understand ODU in over Drexel because of H2H. I could not see both of them being in.

    Virginia a 4 seed, Vandy a 5 - ridiculous seeds

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous6:00 PM

ODU and Drexel should both be in... I think the tourney should be expanded to 68; play-in games in all 4 regions...

  28. I argued all week that Syracuse wasn't necessarily safe. Of course, I can't brag too much, though, because I had them in my final field as well. And I had Stanford out. But if you really look at it, I think the committee made the right decision in that case. Other mistake I made was putting in Florida State (I should have known since I was one of the only ones) and leaving out Arkansas. That one still surprises me. But I think it's defensible.

YESSSSS!!!! Virginia in as a 4 SEED?!?! I was hoping for a 6. Its too good to be true. Well as long as they're in over V-Tech. Albany in the first round is pretty easy but Tennessee in the 2nd... tough. GO HOOS!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anonymous6:10 PM

I agree. Virginia got a huge favor. I'll be pulling for them the whole tourney. By the way, Hokies SUCK! HAHA Go HOOS!

Yeah, as a UVA fan I was just hoping for a 6 seed and thinking we may get a 7 seed, but a 4!! I'm exited

Arkansas in is a travesty. I think Drexel has the biggest beef although Syracuse is a close second. At least for Syracuse you can make the argument they need to schedule better OOC.

I can't understand at all why Florida is the number one overall seed and in the St. Louis region while Ohio State is number three overall and in the San Antonio region. The first thing the committee is supposed to do when bracketing is assign regions to the one seeds. Florida should have been South, Ohio St. should have been Midwest... I thought at first it was a mistake by CBS.

Sorry Seminole fans, as long as the ACC has a limp dick like Craig Littlepage fighting for them. Other ACC teams on the bubble aren't getting any luck.

He did a nice job taking care of his own boys though.
