The only question is which three Big East teams will be on the 2 line. What hurts Villanova is the fact that their wins over Dayton and Maryland don't look that great anymore, and the fact that their only loss (Temple) came to a team that Georgetown beat. On the other hand, Georgetown is hurt by the fact that their only loss is worse than Villanova's loss (Temple vs. ODU).Bracketology 101https://www.blogger.com/profile/01277396896660963269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072987.post-31647139843358533222010-01-03T14:02:26.695-05:002010-01-03T14:02:26.695-05:00I understand that, as defending champs, UNC gets p...I understand that, as defending champs, UNC gets preferential treatment, but UNC has 3 losses, 2 by double digits, and their best wins are at home against 2 teams that... Also have 3 losses.

I think Duke, WVU, Syracuse and Georgetown have separated themselves nicely from the group looking for 2 seeds...

Duke is 5-1 vs top 100, GT is 5-1, WVU is 7-1, and Syracuse is 6-1, while Villanova has just 3 top 100 wins, and UNC is 4-3.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072987.post-26542389945220328232010-01-02T16:19:19.654-05:002010-01-02T16:19:19.654-05:00Yup, the 1s are set. There are six teams fighting for spots on the 2 line: Syracuse, Duke, Villanova, West Virginia, Georgetown, and (to a lesser extent) North Carolina.Bracketology 101https://www.blogger.com/profile/01277396896660963269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072987.post-42719903944219365762010-01-02T14:46:33.944-05:002010-01-02T14:46:33.944-05:00Well the 'Cuse loss to Pitt pretty much cleare...Well the 'Cuse loss to Pitt pretty much cleared up the #1s now. Their RPI, as you mentioned, also jumped to 4. Those adjusted numbers are going to make it very difficult to keep them off the 1 line.

If Purdue is a 1 seed in our next bracket, they would replace Kentucky. The Wildcats have the worst computer numbers of all the unbeaten teams and one of their marquee wins, UConn, doesn't look like that much of a quality win anymore. Other than that, all they have is a win over Carolina, which Syracuse also has - and more.Bracketology 101https://www.blogger.com/profile/01277396896660963269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072987.post-48011406998079595352010-01-02T11:12:08.762-05:002010-01-02T11:12:08.762-05:00Why shouldn't Purdue be a #1? Of the five undefeated teams left as of January 1st games, Purdue is ranked the highest in the RPI (4th), and has the highest RPI SOS rating (58th) [SU (61), Tex (80), KU (112), UK (156). Purdue has done as much on the court as these teams. They have played two games closer than 10 points (Tenn and Bama). They may not have the NBA talent that the other teams do, but they showed against Tenn, WVU, and Wake (teams that have potential 1st round picks) that it doesn't matter. They play arguably the best defense (with maybe Texas) in the nation. Right now they deserve a #1 seed.DavidShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05118386405029720761noreply@blogger.com
