Bracketology 101's Field of 65 - Dec. 11

The Breakdown
Only a few changes from last week's poll...the biggest shake-up involves the Big 10, which picks up two bids thanks to two-loss weeks from Georgia Tech and San Diego State. There also was barely any change in the amount of big conference bids in this week's bracket. Besides the MVC (and in our bracket at least, the A-10), no mid-major conference has a second team that has proved worthy yet of an at-large. We love the little guy as much as anyone, but the MWC, WAC, WCC, MAC, etc. all are one-bid leagues at this point.

Here is Bracketology 101's Field of 65 for Dec. 11:

How fatal will Purdue's loss to Butler be at the end. Or will this be termed a "good loss".

A couple quick hits...

Bryan - You're right on about the Seminoles...they are in the bracket as of now thanks to their earlier win over the Gators. That win gave them the one thing they lacked last year - and what in the end kept them out of the dance - a signature non-conference win. If FSU can go 9-7 in conference, and pull off one of their seemingly annual big upsets (ala Duke last year), they should be dancing. As of now, their strong OOC scheduling is paying off; they may have lost a couple games, but they got the one big win their resume needs.

Purdue's loss to Butler is still a "good" one, considering they came into the game as underdogs. The win would have been sweet for the Boilermakers' OOC resume, but they do have victories over Missouri and Virginia, at least, to fall back on at this point.

Anonymous,

Here's what you missed: Wichita is No. 2 in the RPI, ranked 8th in the country, and already has wins at LSU and at Syracuse. They are a solid 2 seed at this point, and have been one of the really nice stories thus far this season.
